It has a magnetic backing and comes with two adhesive patches with an additional metal plate for mounting in a specific location. It even includes a cleaning pad (pictured). The adhesive patches contain a gel-like layer of glue. It is not a double sided tape. Once placed, removal of the top film allows for mounting of the metal plate. Even though two adhesive pads are provided there is only one metal plate so mounting in this manner is restricted to a single location. I have not used this method of mounting as I am getting plenty of use out of it in different locations. The glue appears strong and I do not anticipate any problems if and when I decide to mount the lamp.The lamp is turned on and off by pressing the light. There are no settings
• it is either on or off. To give an idea of its brightness attached is a picture of it lighting under the hood. This was taken when it was pitch black so all the light is coming from this lamp. It was attached magnetically to the opened hood. You can see that it provides good illumination. The light is spread over a large area and cannot be focused. It works just as well in closets or any space where illumination may be challenging but desired.This is a very flexible and convenient light to have around. It provides good illumination, can be recharged, is easily portable, and useful in various situations. Its wide coverage area may have advantages over a flashlight in many situations. The only drawback is the USB cord, which is a smaller size than usual. That is not something that I feel should take away from a five star rating.
