But kids' wooden tables/chairs on Amazon are cheap Chinese imports that don't hold up (and that may even plant slivers in kids' hands, legs, and backsides). This set is also made in China, but it is attractive, durable, and reliable. The chairs are especially stable, and this set comes with rubber grippers for the four legs of each chair so that "slip accidents" will rarely happen, if ever. Honestly, because the table avoids crossbraces to accommodate four chairs, it is not as steady as our old wooden table, especially when four small and active children are working together. (Table stability is affected by table height, and the table is less likely to wiggle when the table is assembled at its lowest possible height. We have the table at its maximum height because our youngest grandkids are now growing up--and although it isn't motion-free (as I've stated) it is still workable, and the kids love it. They especially like the washable-marker-friendly tabletop that allows children to create (and erase) art works right on the table. Each chair has 24 screws that must be installed with a manual screwdriver (if you use an electric screwdriver, you will almost certainly strip the threads on every screw you insert.) So that's a total of 96 screws for the chairs plus several more for the table. My seven-year-old grandson helped me assemble the set, and it took us about two hours to lay everything out and to put the five pieces together. But my grandson assembled one chair entirely by himself, (And two granddaughters also "helped," so an adult parent or grandparent working alone could probably assemble the five pieces inside 90 minutes tops.My wife loves the table and chairs, and they've already seen quite a bit of use during the week or so since we assembled them.Read moreRead lessOne person found this helpfulHelpfulSending feedback...Thank you for your feedback.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.
