• DR:Bulky but effective ultra-rugged case with a stable kickstand and sacrificial screen protector. Prioritizes protection over cosmetics and does that job well for the price.DesignThis is a straightforward ultra-rugged design. Soft edges and reinforced corners help absorb impact, with a honeycomb-style back and a raised lip around the screen for drop protection. The design is simple, functional, and clearly focused on durability rather than looks. There’s additional internal protection around the charging port, and an external dust cover helps keep debris out.QualityThe material feels solid and confidence-inspiring. Once installed, the tablet feels well protected and ready for everyday abuse. The built-in screen protector does not sit perfectly flat near the camera area, resulting in a slight visible bulge when the screen is off. This is not noticeable at all during normal use and does not affect touch sensitivity or visibility.DurabilityAfter about a day of normal use, the built-in screen protector already shows scratches. This happened when the tablet slid across part of a backpack during a hard stop in my car.Importantly, these scratches are completely invisible when the screen is on and do not affect usability in any way. The protector is clearly sacrificial, which is exactly what you want in a rugged case. If it eventually becomes too scratched, replacing the case is far preferable to damaging the tablet’s actual screen. This case is clearly designed with protection taking priority over cosmetic longevity.KickstandThe kickstand offers one primary viewing angle. Technically there are two usable positions if you flip the tablet upside down, and both angles are practical depending on what you’re doing. It’s very stable on flat surfaces. The mechanism clicks into place, which means it will eventually wear out with enough use, but that “enough” is likely a very large number. Nothing about it feels flimsy or loose.FitFit is excellent. The case installs securely and aligns properly with the tablet. If you’re not used to installing rugged cases, it may take a bit of effort, but that’s expected with this type of protection.Once on, the tablet is held firmly with no movement.Ease of UseAll three buttons (power, volume up, volume down) are fully exposed and work exactly as they did without the case. The charging port dust cover is easy to open and close and not annoying in daily use.The MicroSD slot is fully covered, so you’ll need to remove the back of the case to access it. This is normal for rugged cases and not a surprise. The headphone jack is uncovered, but larger headphone plugs will not fit. Standard thin plugs work fine.Despite the added bulk, the tablet still fits comfortably in a hand or bag. The added thickness makes the tablet roughly three times thicker overall, but that’s a reasonable tradeoff for the level of protection. The upsid
