I went with the latter. That said: I paid ~$300 and that's stupid cheap for what you get. RouterOS might not be everyone's favorite but model config files exist for a reason. Aside from ad blocking, DNS, etc. (not native, but easy to add) my only justification is that we are sharing a port with a line of sight neighbor. He gets gaming latency and I get security. PoE is convenient for the bridge and an AP.
