    • Berkey filters are always out of stock. The ProOne has NSF certification, which is the industry standard for water filter testing
    • Berkey does not, but claims it uses a third party lab for testing. ProOne filters are easier to install, less expensive, and seem sturdier than the Berkey black filters. There is no priming, no red dye test, and no leakage. I always worried the repeated filling and removal for cleaning might damage the Berkey filters, which seem fragile, but the Pro-1 filter seems more solidly attached to the base.Cons: The Pro1 filter is good for 1,200 gallons, so it’s life as advertised is half the advertised life of a Berkey filter. Of course, each filter is good for 1,400 gallons, so my system will filter a total of 2,800 gallons. That is a lot of water, and I’d replace the Berkey filters well before their advertised life since I’d worry about damage over time.Your choice.
