    • they are far faster, have much higher storage capacity, and are much more durable. *BUT* there's always seems that once or twice time a year where you need to get some data of a CD-ROM or DVD+/-R. This is a product for those times. I bought this external optical drive because my mother recently got a new desktop, it didn't come with an optical drive, but mom has stored all kinds of data on optical discs for the past 20+ years and was not about to give that up so I bought here this Asus Zendrive.It's not hard to use, you just plug it in to a USB port and that's about it, there aren't any drivers needed for Win10/11. It's not particularly noisy, the USB cable is a bit shorter than I'd like, but you can place the drive on top of the tower if you need to. These things aren't particularly expensive or anything, but at the same time, most people won't be using them regularly.
