There IS a difference in size but it is not the nipple it is the plastic piece. At 2 months we are sizing up because her lips come out of the holes in the newborn.To clean I boil in water. They do get water in the nipple as to why I don't clean with soap. Once boiled I lay them nipple up and let them dry. Once in awhile the water seems to stay longer so with a clean hand I squeeze it and shake a bit and then it will dry. Haven't had any issues, just takes some specific care.
