    • but since I got it for $1.99, I figured if it didn't work I wouldn't be out much. This was a nice surprise. I was expecting it to be blue, but the one I got is a pale yellow. At first, my budgies, Jake and Stella didn't pay much attention to it. Honestly, I think Jake may have been a little afraid of it. When there was no activity with the holder after a few hours, I tried a new tactic. This thing works much better if you cram two millet sprays into it instead of one. It pushes the sprays up against the sides of the basket and makes access to the seeds much easier. Once they get the hang of eating out of it, the holder works great. It also solves the problem of Stella ripping the sprays apart for sheer entertainment. She would tear at the stem until it was completely bare, eating little or none of the seed. Poor Jakey didn't used to even get a chance to eat any of the millet, unless he picked it out of the bottom of the cage. This thing slows Stella down considerably and she doesn't guard it from Jake the way she would a bare spray.
